At most awards shows, the major fashion moments come during the red carpet arrivals period. But at last night's iHeart Radio Awards, the most interesting ensembles we're seen inside the L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium.

Mostly because for whatever reason stars like Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Jennifer Lopez decided to skip the pre-show. That's not to say there weren't a few highlights from the red carpet. Hilary Duff looked super cute sporting a gold embroidered LBD by Maria Lucia Hohan LBD with top knot and bright orange lip.

But it was really J.Lo and Selena who caught our eye. The American Idol judge stunned in her second white hot look of the night—a beaded halter mini by Zuhair Murad. Meanwhile, the "Come and Get It" singer kept it simple in a midriff-baring Cushnie et Ochs number.

Now on to the less than stellar style moments. We love Rihanna but those warm and fuzzy feeling do not transfer to her gothic alien look. The Artist of the Year winner called her lace Givenchy Couture with green lipstick and bantu knots "#ghetto," but we just found it #confusing.

Equally head scratching was the too-long tie on Mel B's crop top, Cheryl Burk's metallic and leather dress and the floral-printed jersey and the white skirt combo worn by Chelsea Kane.
