Project Greenlight is coming back. HBO announced it's reviving the series with returning executive producers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. The show aired in 2001 and 2003 on HBO.

"Project Greenlight was ahead of its time," Affleck said in a statement. "Now that technology has caught up to the concept, we thought it was a perfect time to bring it back. A whole new generation of filmmakers has grown up sharing everything, and the next big director could be just an upload away. It is really great having Project Greenlight back at HBO."

Project Greenlight follows the creation of a film after a digital competition. The series follows the inner workings from pre-production and casting all the way through to principal photography and post-production. The winning director is surrounded by industry professional along the way.

"Project Greenlight works—careers have been launched and sustained as a direct result of this contest. Pete Jones, John Gulager, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan are just a few of the PGL alums who've gone on to do great things in Hollywood, and Ben and I are really proud of that," Damon said in a statement.

The first season chronicled the making of Stolen Summer. In 2003, the second season followed The Battle of Shaker Heights and a third season that aired on Bravo in 2005 chronicled the making of Feast.

"We are delighted to reunite with Ben and Matt for a new season of Project Greenlight," HBO's Michael Lombardo said in a statement. "This unique show offers a fascinating look inside moviemaking that is unlike anything else on TV."

Adaptive Studios in association with Pearl Street Films and Miramax will produce Project Greenlight. Executive producers on the series include Affleck, Damon, Marc Joubert, TJ Barrack, Perrin Chiles, Marshall Lewy and Zanne Devine.
