True, the engagement was a shock, but just wait until you see the ring!

People magazine has revealed the massive diamond that George Clooney's gifted his fiancée Amal Alamuddin, which confirms what we're sure millions of women were hoping was a hoax. Alas, the engagement is indeed real—and so is the bling!

The human rights lawyer and her new accessory were photographed while she and Clooney dined together with Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber in Santa Monica, Calif., just five days after the Oscar winnner asked for Amal's hand in marriage. According to the publication, the Gravity actor helped design the ethically mined emerald-cut diamond which is estimated to be a whopping 7 carats! The massive sparkler is set in platinum and, yes, George presented it while on bended knee in London.

Of course, the engagement was previously confirmed by Amal's own law firm, not to mention Clooney's father, Nick Clooney, who told E! News he was "very pleased."

The shocking announcement that Hollywood's most famous bachelor would be walking down the aisle broke over the weekend after the couple was overhead sharing the news with pal Edward Norton while dinning at Malibu's Nobu restaurant.

This happy albeit surprising twist in the pair's whirlwind courtship, comes just seven months after the duo were first spotted together. Of course, George had to work to even score that first date! Amal had reportedly turned him down two times before saying yes. Luckily it appears he only had to ask once for her hand in marriage.

This will be the second time the Oscar winner utters the words "I do." The 52-year-old, who has been a serial dater for the last two decades was previously married to Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993.
