What would you do if your loved ones suddenly vanished?

HBO's highly anticipated new series, The Leftovers, revolves around the aftermath of a global "rapture"—which may or may not be the Biblical rapture—in which roughly 100 people were disappeared from the small town of Mapleton. Now, the people who didn't make the cut that are left behind in a suburban community and forced to rebuild their lives in the wake of this mysterious occurrence.

The upcoming drama has already received a 10-episode pickup and stars Theroux as Kevin Garvey, a chief of police and father of two who is trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy in this new world.

Based on Tom Perrota's 2011 novel of the same named, The Leftovers, is Damon Lindelof's first TV project since Lost. Together, Perrota and Lindelof have penned the series which features an A-list cast including Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, and Ann Dowd.
