Bagatelle Ice Cream Sundae

Enjoy eating your dollar menu ice cream cone like a poor person

Meanwhile, New York's Bagetelle has added the Malboussin Mega Sundae to its menu, which is a $1,000 ice cream sundae. Because if you have an extra grand lying around, uh, why not?

The ingredients include:

Scoops of homemade vanilla ice cream
Dom Pérignon Rosé sorbet
Chocolate truffles
Whipped cream
Chocolate vodka sauce
Gilded brownies
A sprinkling of golf leaf
A black steel and white gold Malboussin ring

The latter (the jewelery) is for wearing, not eating, and actually isn't even really a part of the dish. Eater N.Y. says it is "somewhat disappointingly, served on the side instead of buried like treasure in the fudge sauce." On its own, the ring costs $530, so really, you're only paying $430 for truffle ice cream. Bargain!

Sidebar: If a ridiculously overpriced dish is made and doesn't include truffles (truffles, truffle oil, gold-leafed, gilded, RARE TRUFFLES), did it ever really exist at all?

This isn't the first $1K sundae either: In 2007, New York's Serendipity 3 introduced the Golden Opulence sundae, which entered the Guinness World Records book for World's Most Expensive Sundae.

That dish included edible gold leaf and the world's most expensive chocolate sauce. Later, Serendipity 3 introduced the Frrrozen Haute Chocolate for $25,000, which may have inspired this sundae (it came with an 18-carat diamond bracelet).

Nobody bought either the first time around.
