Judy Greer stopped by Conan O'Brien on Thursday where she opened up about her 2011 wedding to TV producer Dean Johnson and revealed that the duo's nuptials incorporated a Planet of the Apes theme.
And while the theme is a far cry from any typical wedding affair, the Arrested Development star insisted it wasn't too over the top.
"During the cocktail hour, we had the TV screens in the bar [with] the movies playing," she told O'Brien. "We had Rise [of the Planet of the Apes] playing on one screen and then the original, obviously, Planet of the Apes playing on the bigger screen."
And of course, there was of a bit of ape-tastic decor.
"I surprised my husband and bought this really beautiful…porcelain cake topper, and instead of a bride and groom, it was a chimp bride and groom," she revealed.
As for the present Greer gave her hubby?
"I got him a vintage Rolex watch and I got it engraved like you do, but I got it engraved 'ape shall not kill ape' on the inside of his watch because I knew that's how he would know that I really loved him," she said. "Like if I just put 'I love you' or our initials or the date that we got married he would be like, 'That's great honey.'"
"But he did tell me later that I got it wrong," she continued. "That it's 'ape shall never kill ape,' but the guy, I mean the guy when I took it to the engraver, was like, 'You're crazy'"
Conan couldn't help but burst into a fit of giggles as Greer dished all the deets on her wedding day, admitting "never heard anyone do that," in reference to her unique wedding theme.
"I'm sure someone's done it, I mean we can't be the first," Greer said.
We're not so sure about that.
Appropriately, the redheaded beauty stars in the upcoming flick Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which is set for release on July 11, 2014.
