Cody Simpson fans, dry those tears because your favorite singer is doing just fine.

Though the Australian pop star was eliminated from Dancing With the Stars on Monday night, Cody was in a good mood when he and partner Witney Carson chatted with E! News backstage after their shocking exit.

"I'm sad...mixed feelings. It's kind of like, one amazing experience is over, Witney and I are kind of sad about it, but at the same time, I can just get back to what I do...start working on the new album and move on to the next phase of my career," Cody told us of his journey on the ABC reality hit coming to an end, adding that his new music video for his song "Surfboard" was also released on the same night of his elimination.

Still, Cody was quick to admit he wasn't expecting to go home on Monday night, telling us, "Honestly we had no clue. Witney and I were like, 'We'll be fine, we're going to be safe. It's all good.' It just goes to show you, you should never get too comfortable."

Also shocked by Cody's ousting? Fellow teen heartthrob James Maslow, who landed the first perfect score of the season on Monday night.

"I really think there's a huge fanbase for Cody and I, who have younger fans, who may not have known who we were at the beginning," the Big Time Rush hunk told us. "We have to earn their votes and it's a reminder to me and to [Peta Murgatroyd], like, 'Hey, we're not safe at any time.'"

So who is Cody rooting for now that he's no longer competing for the mirrorball trophy? The answer may surprise you! Watch our interview with Cody and Witney above to find out their pick to win Season 18.
