Game of Thrones made its highly anticipated return on Sunday night. So who better to chat it up with than Emilia Clarke, right?

Well, the Los Angeles Times did just that prior to the start of season four and, in the process, got the gal to open up about all things Daeneyrs.

"It's been wonderful," Clarke told the paper about her Game of Thrones gig. "This is my first proper job, so I've been growing with her, which is the exciting part. Man, she's got more strength than I have, that's for sure. Getting to be with her throughout this growth process is so exciting as an actor. While she's pushing herself, I get to push myself and my acting every season."

What's more, Clarke added that she continues to "relate more and more" to her role on the HBO series.

"Every season, I find more depth to her as a character and, within that, finding more depth in myself," she said. "She's definitely grown and continues to grow from a girl into a woman, and me too, so we're in it together."

With regards to Daenerys evolution throughout the course of the show, Clarke noted that "fundamentally she is a leader and a survivor, and the beautiful difference between Daenerys and the rest of the cast is her ultimate goal is pure. Her ultimate goal is entirely selfless...She would like to rule and create an equal world."
