Dubbed as one of Travel and Leisure's best cities for foodies in America, Kansas City is known for its comfort food faves, particularly when it comes to its famous barbeque joints.

Travel Channel's Anthony Bourdain was so impressed by the barbeque ribs, brisket and pulled pork at local staple Oklahoma Joe's, for example, that he listed it as one of the "13 Places You Have to Eat Before You Die."

While K.C. is best known for its barbeque, the Missouri city is also home to many more scrumptious restaurants, including innovative eateries popping up all over town.

In addition to the mega-popular fried chicken and warm, homemade cinnamon rolls served up at James Beard-winning Stroud's, adventurous foodies grab tapas at Chef Michael Smith's Extra Virgin, where crispy duck tongue tacos reign supreme.
