Lamar Odom's time on the basketball court is on hold indefinitely.

The 34-year-old has been ruled unfit to play due to a back injury and has "finished his present contract," the Spanish basketball team Baskonia (also known as Laboral Kutxa) announced on Saturday. The veteran athlete will treat his injury in the U.S and is already back home in the states.

In a statement, Odom gave thanks to the fans and said he is still part of the team.

"I am going to try and get back on the court and give you guys a show," the basketball star told the club's website.

During Odom's brief stint with the team, he appeared in two games and played for approximately 22 minutes.

Odom made his basketball comeback in Febuary, after being a free agent for seven months, when he signed a two-month contract for the rest of the 2013–14 season. There was also an option to play for one more year. Laboral Kutxa is ninth in the 18-team Spanish league and last in its Euroleague group.

The native New Yorker previously played for the Miami Heat, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers.
