Tina Fey wasn't always the queen of TV. Before the 30 Rock star hit it back with her own show and being the head writer on Saturday Night Live, Fey spent her free time going on commercial auditions. While living in Chicago and doing Second City with her BFF Amy Poehler, Fey said she'd go on commercial auditions, and there was one in particular that went badly.

"I could never book anything because I didn't look like anything," Fey said in a web video for The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. "I had short hair with a perm on top, but I was young. I didn't look like a mom, I didn't look like a person—I just didn't look like anything."

Fey said she'd always see friends at the auditions, and sometimes the wait would be for hours. One time she was auditioning for a commercial with McDonald's, which would've been "big money." However, Fey didn't realize the commercial was set at a McDonald's drive-thru.

"I have this big ole scar on my face, which I didn't realize was going to be featured prominently in my audition for McDonald's," Fey said.

After the two and a half hour wait and realizing she wouldn't book the commercial because of her scar, Fey basically gave up. "I was just like, ‘Hi, I'll have a Big Mac, and my scar will have an orange soda.' And I just left because they weren't going to give me that."

Bet McDonald's would love Fey to come through their drive-thru now!

Fey said she also auditioned to be a Hanes girl with Michael Jordan, but naturally didn't book it. One commercial she did book was for Mutual Savings Bank. Check it out in all its ‘90s glory above.
