If people at work/at school/on the street are asking you this question: "What are you giving up for Lent?" and you have no idea what they are talking about, let us tell you.
Today is Ash Wednesday, which for Christians means it's the beginning of Lent. And during Lent, people usually give up something they like doing or eating (like junk food or coffee) or pledge to do something to better themselves or the lives of others for 40 days and 40 nights. To put it in a secular light, it's kind of like a New Year's resolution, but for a shorter time period and a higher calling than just pledging to lose that belly fat.
So if you want to give up something for 40 days and 40 nights, it starts today! While we're not all practicing Christians, we like the idea of trying to give up something that's horrible for us, so we at E! Loves are going to try and see this through.
What are we giving up, you ask?
Jenna: "I'm giving up sugar, but I've already had a Butterfinger today, so it's not going great."
John: "I need to give up eating out every night. Or I need to live in a city that's not Los Angeles where it costs $30 for a single person to eat at a restaurant."
Wish us luck!
Also, people are bombarding Twitter with their own pledges and sacrifices, so if you need some ideas on what you should give up, here are some samples:

Taco Bell is linked to having a good attitude. We think it's due to the Doritos taco shells.

So what are you giving up for Lent? Don't say entertainment news sites, because we're thinking that Jesus would not have wanted that.
Good luck for the next 40 days and 40 nights!
