Paul Morigi/WireImageSeth Rogen's Senate testimony yesterday didn't go exactly how the actor had hoped.
Yesterday, the funnyman testified before a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing on the economics and current state of research of Alzheimer's disease treatment and prevention. His mother-in-law was diagnosed with the disease at age 55, and Rogen and wife Lauren Miller founded Hilarity for Charity to raise awareness about the disease.
After the hearing, Rogen took to Twitter to blast senators who were not in the room to hear Rogen's pleas.
"All those empty seats are senators who are not prioritizing Alzheimer's. Unless more noise is made, it won't change," the Pineapple Express star wrote along with a photo of empty chairs unoccupied by Senate members.
He also wrote, "Not sure why only two senators were at the hearing. Very symbolic of how the Government views Alzheimer's. Seems to be a low priority."
Senator Mark Kirk took to Twitter to share a message with Rogen, writing, "Thanks to @Sethrogen for speaking out about efforts to #ENDALZ. RT if you know someone affected by #Alzheimers." Rogen responded, ".@SenatorKirk pleasure meeting you. Why did you leave before my speech? Just curious."
Rogen also opened up about why he thinks Congress isn't doing enough when it comes to Alzheimer's research in an interview with ABC News, saying, "I think one of the most distressing things I heard was talking to Dr. Hodes, who's a major Alzheimer's doctor, and he was saying that a lot of people who would normally be pursuing curing Alzheimer's as a disease are not seeing that the money is there, and they're choosing other diseases to pursue."
