Two episodes. Two tribal councils. Two eliminations.
Survivor returned for its 28th season on Wednesday night, this time sending the 18 castaways to Cagayan, a province in the Philippines. And in a fun twist, the castaways were split into three teams: Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty. In the CBS reality hit's two-hour premiere, two castaways were already voted off the island.
In a surprising twist, one tribe lost both challenges, meaning they ended the premiere already down two members. Even more surprising? It was the Brains who found themselves at a disadvantage!
The two eliminated contestants from the Brains Tribe?
David Samson, the president of the Miami Marlins baseball team, and Garrett Adelstein, a pro poker player. Oh, and Garrett actually had a hidden Immunity Idol that he just decided not to bring to the tribal council. (Say whaaa?!)
So yeah, Team Brains is definitely off to a shaky start. Especially when you consider that the team decided to keep J'Tia Taylor around (twice!) after she had already destroyed their food. On purpose. Just so you know, there is an actual rocket scientist on this team.
And round one goes to the pretty people and jocks!
What did you think of Survivor's new crop of castaways? Were you surprised to see the Brains struggle so quickly? Sound off in the comments!
