Who better to fill Michael Jordan's gravity-defying Nikes than LeBron James?

A sequel to the 1996 live-action-and-animated blockbuster Space Jam is currently in development, with the reigning king of the NBA as the No. 1 choice to head up the Tune Squad, E! News confirmed Friday.

And we believe LeBron can fly!

Space Jam 2 is currently being developed by producer Charlie Ebersol, son of sports broadcasting titan Dick Ebersol, as a starring vehicle for James, who, while he has played himself on the small screen a number of times in shows like Entourage and Saturday Night Live, would be making his feature-film debut if all goes according to plan.

Charlie's brother, Willie, is penning the script.

Deadline.com was first to report the sequel plan, which should come as great news for basketball and Bugs Bunny fans of all ages.

But it's doubtful that James, who can hold court like no one else in the game at the moment, will be alone come game time.

The original Space Jam, which grossed more than $230 million worldwide, featured a whole lineup of now-considered-retro NBA stars, including Larry BirdPatrick Ewing, Charles Barkley and Muggsy Bogues—so just think of the possibilities for a 21st-century Space Jam roster.

Not to mention the CGI possibilities, which could have Space Jam 2 looking more like Avatar than Who Framed Roger Rabbit. (Which we also love, but we're just sayin'.)

And at least we know that Bugs and Daffy will be ready to play at a moment's notice. Bill Murrayis more than welcome to show up for another cameo as well.

Talk of a Space Jam sequel with James at the top of the wish list started last year. So sometimes, if you just believe it...

Warner Bros. previously announced today that a sequel to The Lego Movie, which has topped the last two weekend box offices, is already in the works for 2017.
