Simon Cowell has tweeted his first words as a father.

Shortly after E! News broke the story of Cowell's baby boy being born, the X Factor judge took to Twitter to reveal what he and Lauren Silverman have decided to name their bundle of joy, and it looks like the celeb had family on the brain when it came to picking his firstborn's moniker.

"Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome," he tweeted, and added, "Lauren in great shape. Thanks for all of your kind messages."

Cowell named his son after his father, Eric Selig Phillip Cowell, who passed away in 1999.

Piers Morgan also took to Twitter to share an adorable throwback photo of a young Simon with his father, and wrote, "A young Simon Cowell with his father Eric, who he adored > https://bit.ly/1ezYZCj  ... lovely tribute to name his son after him."

The couple had agreed on a name months ago, but kept their choice a secret. "Actually, we agreed on a name last night, me and Lauren," Cowell told E! News during the X Factor finalists' party in L.A. in November. "I'm not going to say what it is yet, but I'm happy."

Simon Cowell's rep confirmed to E! News that the couple's new addition was born at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City today, after the brunette beauty went into labor early this morning. Their baby boy came into the world at 5:45 p.m. ET and weighed 6 pounds and 7 ounces.

The music mogul was by Silverman's side when the couple's bundle of joy arrived, skipping out on Britain's Got Talent auditions in London and hopping on a private plane headed straight to NYC so he could be present for the birth of his son.

"He has had a plane on standby for a week," a source said.

Along with Cowell, Lauren's parents were also in the delivery room when the 36-year-old went into labor and her sister went straight to the hospital once she got wind of the baby news. The NYC socialite's 8-year-old son, Adam, with ex-Andrew Silverman, was not present, "as it's President's Day weekend and he had a pre-planned vacation with his father," another source revealed.
