Amber Heard doesn't want to play the damsel in distress.

She would much rather run around playing with guns.

In her latest film, 3 Days to Kill, she plays Vivi Delay, a sexy FBI agent who has no problem killing.

While promoting the movie yesterday at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, I asked Heard if she enjoys shooting those guns. "I love it," she said. "I love it."

"Do you like shooting men in their heads," I asked.

"Absolutely," Heard smiled. "It's a perk of the job."

Heard does quite a lot of that in 3 Days to Kill.

"I would rather shoot the gun and save the girl or save the guy or be hated than be cute, sweet and adorable and loved," she said. "It's way more fun. It's always more fun to play a badass. I always fight for those characters."

It's why you don't see Heard jumping into any movie that comes her way. "I only make a few movies a year because for every one that I take, I've said no thanks to many romantic movies where I bat my eyelashes and catch the bouquet," she said.

It's no wonder she and her costar Kevin Costner got along so well. (Costner plays a cancer-stricken FBI agent who agrees to do one last hit after Heard promises him an experimental treatment to cure his fatal disease.)

"He reminds me of where I come from," said Heard, who grew up in Texas. "He's a just good ol' American guy. He reminds of the people I grew up with and who I was raised by, so I got him. He and I just got each other instantly."

Directed by McG, 3 Days to Kill also stars Hailee Steinfeld as Costner's daughter and Connie Nielsen as his estranged wife. It hits theaters on Feb. 21.
