And yes, Lorde age truthers, the New Zealand pop prodigy is really and truly just 17 years old, despite having achieved so much at such a young age. The Hairpin ordered up a copy of her birth certificate for NZ$17.02, and sure enough, it lists his birth name (Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor) and reveals her date of birth is Nov. 7, 1996.
She's in on the joke, too, or as she deadpanned to Vanity Fair, "Hi, I'm Ella and I'm actually 45."
Oh, Lorde.
