This is pretty sweet.

Jennifer Aniston has signed on to star in Cake, which, according to a press release, will find the actress playing "the acerbic, hilarious Claire Simmons, a woman who becomes fascinated by the suicide of Nina, a woman in her chronic pain support class. As she uncovers the details of Nina's suicide and develops a poignant relationship with Nina's husband, Claire also grapples with her own very raw personal tragedy."

According to Deadline, Aniston will serve as an executive producer on the project as well.

"Of the zillions of Jennifer Aniston fans, I might be the biggest one of all," director Daniel Barnz said in a statement.  "I've especially loved her more dramatic performances, and I can't wait to watch her tackle a role that has such a brilliantly funny voice and so much raw pain (hats off to writer Patrick Tobin)."

Aniston is currently working on the highly anticipated sequel to Horrible Bosses, and recently wrapped production on Squirrels to the Nuts, costarring Will Forte, Imogen Poots, Owen Wilson and Rhys Ifans.

No word yet on when cameras will start rolling on Cake.
