Prince, Zooey Deschanel, New Girl

Prince is the New Girl relationship guru? You've got to see it to believe it.

In these new clips for the Fox hit sitcom's epic post-Super Bowl episode, airing Sunday, Feb. 2 and featuring the legendary musician, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and her friends attend a party at Prince's house following a traffic incident. As only people on TV do.

Their reaction to meeting Prince? Exactly how you would react. Shrieks, shakes, stunned silence and yes, fainting. It's an accurate portrayal of what would happen if any living, breathing human went to a party at Prince's house and saw him in the flesh.

Prince, who has admitted he's a fan of the show, takes Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess aside individually to talk about their relationship.

"Nick, I never thought I'd say this, but I need to be alone with Prince," she tells Nick. Can you imagine!?

Turns out, Jess is struggling to tell Nick she loves him and explains to Prince that she's worried she's going to lose him. "That's stupid," Prince says. "You're stupid," Jess replies and quickly realizes she just called Prince stupid. Luckily, the "Purple Rain" singer forgives her.

Almost as unbelievable as Jess receiving relationship advice from the music icon is the story of how Prince's guest appearance came to be.

"He contacted us last season because he's a huge fan," executive producer Brett Baer told us. "He knows everything about the show. He contacted Zooey [Deschanel] and Hannah [Simone] directly and asked to do the show. We couldn't work it out last year. But when the Super Bowl thing was floated, it was perfect timing."

And Prince is just like us, as executive producer Dave Finkel spilled that Prince is super into Nick and Jess' relationship, explaining, "[Prince] said, ‘I want to be involved in the show in a real way and I want to help Nick and Jess with their relationship." Baer added, "He's a Nick and Jess shipper!"

Aren't we all, Prince? Aren't we all?

New Girl airs Sunday, Feb. 2 after the Super Bowl before returning to its regular timeslot on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
