Well, the 2014 Grammys red carpet was certainly surprising—and for once, we mean that in a good way!
Usually nominees seem to be trying to outdo each other (and previous years' costumes) with wild and wacky styles and instead we saw very tame looks.
In fact, if we had to sum up the fashions in one word it would be: classic.
There were sexy red gowns (Miranda Lambert) and lots of sparkle (Taylor Swift, Ciara and Chrissy Teigen). There were even pretty princess styles á la Kacey Musgrves.
Not to say there wasn't a touch of whimsical style. Katy Perry wore a Valentino dress (the exact one we predicted, we might add!) that featured musical notes on the skirt.
So while we were disappointed Rihanna and Lady Gaga didn't show up to shock us—the rest of the ladies more than made up for it by completely wowing us.
