Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is about to get a little more Marvel-ous. The comic book company announced Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. character Mike Peterson (played by Angel veteran J. August Richards) will transform into the Marvel Comics character Deathlok in the Tuesday, Feb. 4 episode of the ABC series.

Richards first appeared as Peterson in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot where many suspected he'd be playing Luke Cage. However, the character of Luke Cage will appear in his own Netflix series in 2015.

"We have been waiting all season for this moment where we can reveal that Mike Peterson's story arc is an origin story," executive producer Jeffrey Bell said in a statement. "We're thrilled to have J. August Richards playing Deathlok and to have our audience enjoy this favorite Marvel character on the show."

Deathlok has gone through many incarnations. The cyborg assassin first premiered in 1974 and was created by Dough Moench and Rich Buckler. He's gone through several incarnations since.

"If you would have asked when I was nine-years old what I wanted to be, I would have said a super hero and I'm so excited to be one now as an adult on TV!" Richards said. "It's a dream come true."

Deathlok isn't the only Marvel character coming to S.H.I.E.L.D. Jaimie Alexander will reprise her role of Lady Sif from the Thor movies in an upcoming episode and Bill Baxton will play Marvel character Agent John Garrett, a character who first appeared in Elektra: Assassin. Look for prolific Marvel creator Stan Lee to also appear in an upcoming episode.
