Talk about déjà vu!

The minute we spotted Lupita Nyong'o on the red carpet at tonight's 2014 Golden Globe Awards, we were instantly reminded of Gwyneth Paltrow's unforgettable white Tom Ford gown from the 2012 Oscar Awards.

Both gorgeous actresses opted for head-turning cape dresses for the two award shows, and we can totally see why.

Although Lupita's vibrant red Ralph Lauren design bares her sexy shoulders and Gwyneth's look is slightly more demure with an asymmetrical neckline, both dresses are positively stunning.

We're in love!

The elegant silhouette and striking cape detail add an exquisite and sophisticated touch to traditional awards season styles, and we're wildly impressed with their bold statements.

After all, it takes a whole lot of confidence to rock a cape on a red carpet.

Let it be known—a tasteful cape dress is bound to earn you a spot on the best dressed list!
