Cameron Diaz is one of those stars who always looks great—whether she's glammed up on the red carpet or dressed down hanging out on the beach.

But the 41-year-old actress and author of The Body Book wasn't always the picture-perfect vision of natural beauty we've known her to be throughout her career. In fact, as she tells Seventeen magazine's monthly Body Peace Project column, as a teen she suffered from "horrible acne"—even "deep boiling pimples."

She assures readers that while they might think her life is "always totally glam," she—like so many of us!—had those "deep boiling pimples—the kind that hurt so badly" that made her want to never leave her house.

"My friends said they didn't notice, but I'd say, ‘It's the only thing anyone can see!'" she recalls. "No amount of concealer and foundation could take away the texture of my skin, the embarrassment I felt, or the pain of those raging pimples. I was miserable."

"At the same time, I was this skinny girl who could eat anything I wanted without gaining an ounce—so I did," she says. "If you really are what you eat, I would have been a bean burrito with extra cheese, extra sauce, no onions!"

"Sometimes on a Friday night drive-through run, I would order a double cheeseburger with French fries and onion rings" she admits. "I was the poster child for being both skinny and unhealthy– and I had the zits to prove it."

Oh, girl, feel you there. But as we all know Cameron's an expert on healthy living today! Her newest creation, The Body Book, actually serves as a guidebook for anyone wanting to eat and exercise their way to a happier, healthier life.

And clearly, Cam's got some mighty clear skin today!
