Alyssa Milano "Hurt" by Jay Mohr Fat-Shaming Comments: It's "Unfair" to Scrutinize Women's Post-Baby Bodies

Alyssa Milano graciously accepted (and even joked about!) Jay Mohr's apology for publicly fat-shaming her, but the 41-year-old actress admits she was hurt by his words.

Speaking with Extra's Mario Lopez on Tuesday, Jan. 7, the actress and host of Lifetime's Project Runway All-Stars said she heard the comedian's "comment that was not so nice about my weight" on Christmas Day. "It hurt me. I was affected by it," she said, "and I wanted to remind him that I'm a human being and that this hurts."

Alyssa said she thinks Jay "was trying to make a joke and not think about it" when he quipped that she looked as if she had a baby and decided, "'I don't really give a s--t."

The Suburgatory star apologized—kind of—for his off-color remarks, tweeting that Alyssa is "stunning" and he "mistakenly thought the absurdity of what I was saying would have [been] taken as a joke. #fail."

Yes, #fail indeed. But as Alyssa pointed out, the comments actually drew attention to a larger issue. "I think it's an interesting statement about where we are socially that people feel that they can sort of rip a woman's body apart after having a baby," she said.

"I think we've plastered these celebrities on tabloids about how much weight they gained during their pregnancy and how quickly they lose it afterwards," she continued. "So it's sort of, unfortunately, everyone's fair game, and I don't think it's fair."
