Pretty Little Liars

WARNING: We're about to recap the winter premiere of Pretty Little Liars and spill some serious scoop on what's ahead. If you don't want to know, we suggest moving to Ravenswood. For everyone else, let's discuss!

The winter premiere of Pretty Little Liars just rocked our TV screens and, like always, we're now left with jaw-dropping information and head-scratching questions. We've got a lot of theories, spoilers, and mysteries to discuss with all of you, but first, here's your pretty little recap (with extra emphasis on the little part).

Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding) have decided to give their secret star-crossed lovers love another chance after sharing some steamy smooches and hooking up in Ezra's secluded cabin. (Run, Aria! A's new lair is in the basement!) Emily (Shay Mitchell) was mighty pissed to discover that Ali (Sasha Pieterse) is actually alive and she directed some of her frustrations onto Paige (Lindsey Shaw). Not to worry Paily fans, those two lovebirds are still a-OK.

Hanna (Ashley Benson) was on the hunt to discover who is actually buried in Ali's grave. So far her investigation have led her to a missing girl named Sara who, from what her friends say, was almost as manipulative and bitchy as Ali. Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) came back to Rosewood for a brief visit, but despite his and Hanna's super-sweet reunion, he broke her heart in order to save her from the perils of Ravenswood. Toby (Keegan Allen) also came back to town and he and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) are now super-close to shutting down the Radley Sanitarium for good.

Phew! Now that you're all caught up on all of the twists and turns from tonight's winter premiere, it's time to look ahead at all of the mindblowing moment that are sure to come. We chatted with executive producer Joseph Dougherty to dig deep into all of the secrets that are still hiding in Rosewood. We're going over the facts and revealing some pretty big spoilers about the give biggest mysteries that we still need to unveil this season.

Fact: Ezra is A.
: We have absolutely no idea why!

There's no denying it: Ezra is A. And trust us when we tell you that this isn't another Toby-type situation. Ezra is A, but now we just need to find out why. "You do not know all of Ezra's secrets at this point and you don't know all of his motivation. Right now, the audience knows more than the girls do and you're going to have to deal with the girls getting to the point where they know what you know and what they're going to do about it," Dougherty explains. "I think Ezra's in a very dangerous place and he's a danger to himself and others right now, but I also know that probably what you think his motivations are right now are not correct."

Fact: Ali kept a journal.
: We're not sure if all of the contents in said journal are actually true.

Hanna snatched up Ms. DiLaurentis' diary from A's Ravenswood lair and at the end of tonight's episode we saw that she begrudgingly showed it to the other liars. Why all the secrecy? Let's just say that Ali was not the sweetest author. Dougherty warns, "Basically Ali likes to play with real people just as much as she likes to play with dolls and that extends in the way that she writes. There's truth in what she writes, there's also fantasy in what she writes and what-if's, and her extrapolations and her fantasies are based on some kind of level of reality."

Even though Ali wrote some pretty hurtful things in this journal, this could be the liar's key to find out who she is so desperately frightened of. "They're trying to find out more about their friend than they knew before by getting this point of view from her. And at the same time they're looking to see if she has inadvertently, or deliberately, revealed information as to who she's most afraid of that would keep her from being able to come back," he spills.

Fact: Ezra has a secluded and creepy cabin in the woods.
: We don't know what secrets the cabin holds.

The executive producer promises that we will definitely be visiting Ezra's new haven multiple times this season because, "the cabin is important and the cabin is dangerous." Just make sure you're paying attention to all the teeny tiny clues! "On our show you should always look at the details," he says. "There are things in the cabin and there are things in all the girls rooms that the writers have deliberately put there."

Fact: Some girl is buried in Ali's grave
: We have no idea who it is.

Just because we're not sure if it really is Sara who is buried in the box does not mean that the liars are going to give up their search. "I think Hanna is right, if they can figure out who is in there, they're going to be a lot closer to knowing what the hell happened," Dougherty teases. "The problem is if they figure out who is in there they're going to be a lot more in jeopardy." Yikes!

Fact: Aria will find out that Ezra is A
: We're not sure if she could recover from a complete and total mental breakdown.

Aria has a huge heart, but this warm quality could ultimately lead to her undoing. "I think one of Aria's blind spots is that she is intensely romantic and sometimes that romance blinds her from things she should be aware of," Dougherty reveals. "It's a problem for her and I think it makes her tremendously vulnerable and perhaps more vulnerable than any other liar. On a level she's really quite innocent and as such if you were to take away that perfect romance or the illusion of the perfect romance the question you're left with is what would a girl like Aria fill that with?" Our money is on rage…

Pretty Little Liars airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC Family.
