Case in point: Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are still close after splitting up in late 2012.
In fact, the two were spotted on Thursday, Jan. 2, playing with segways in the Biebs' Calabasas gated community.
The 19-year-old and his former lady love were photographed riding around with a few friends in tow and apparently caused quite the traffic jam.
According to a Twitter user, who snapped pics of the former couple during their outing, the group rode their segways in the middle of the streets which blocked cars from driving through.
The sighting came just weeks after the "Beauty and a Beat" singer revealed during a radio show that he and the brunette beauty were not on talking terms.
"[The break up] affected us, especially when we are in front of so many people. It's such a public thing. It's just hard for the both of us," Bieber said while stopping by Big Boy's Neighborhood for Los Angeles radio station Power 106.
"But you know, she's a great woman. I love her till this day. I think we're going to be the greatest of friends. Right now we're taking a little time and not talking."
Of course these two aren't the only famous former couples who remain on good terms post breakup.
Courteney Cox and David Arquette were both very public about their respect for one another after their divorce.
The actress even told Ellen DeGeneres, "I appreciate David more now than I ever did. He's my best friend and we've both grown and changed."
And yet another couple that seems closer since their split is Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama.
The two have been spotted holding hands and hugging since they broke up years ago, and have been vocal on social media about their affections for one another.
