A home of his own!

Jennifer Hudson appreciates her assistant Walter Williams—so much so that she bought him a house for the holidays! The Academy Award winner uploaded an Instagram video of her longtime friend's very gracious and very loud reaction on Tuesday, Dec. 31. "My assistant Walter's reaction when he found out I was buying him a house for Christmas!" the singer wrote in the video caption.

In the clip, Williams drops the paperwork on the ground and screams. Hudson jumps on the couch before her friend lovingly smothers her with a giant hug. "What?!" Williams asks incredulously.

The next day, the Black Nativity actress shared a picture of herself with Williams on Instagram. "He dumped me in the snow yal!" Hudson, 32, wrote. "That damn Walter!!"

The two have been friends since they were students at Yale Elementary. "Walter and I have been friends since sixth grade," Hudson told The Advocate in 2011. "He's by far my closest friend."

Hudson's generosity doesn't end there. Her childhood home in Englewood, Ill., may be turned into a women's shelter. "We still own the home and I would like to turn it into a shelter for women as soon as possible or by my mother's birthday, which is Nov. 7," the former American Idol contestant's sister told DNAinfo Chicago in August. "At least that is what I would like to see the house used for."

No word yet if the house has indeed been transformed into a safe haven for women.
