Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house not a creature was sure how to dress for the...dinner. So we're better at fashion than poetry, but even we need some assistance in attire for the most festive night of the year. Where better to turn than the starlets in their perfect holiday palettes!

The Red! We suspect Lea Michele will be enjoying the feast of Seven Fishes with her big Italian family, but this lacey Dolce & Gabbana dress is ideal outfit example for any meal. The cut is conservative enough for your oldest family member, and the color is as classic as they come.

The White: If snow-colored style is more your taste, look no further than Helen Mirren's Dennis Basso dress. We specifically love this swing-skirt style for midnight mass after the meal. Plus, the length is fully church-approved, and the pale color has a pure feel.

The Green: Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree, how inspiring is your color! Jessica Pare may be wearing a shade that's more "kelly" than "evergreen" but we do love the vintage cocktail cut and gold detailing at the collar. This L'Wren Scott stunner feels ideal for cocktails and caroling around the Christmas tree.

The Black and Gold: This season has been all about metallics, and Kerry Washington displays how to wear them in cute and flirty fashion. Her Vince Camuto dress works for any party at any age thanks to the '50s cut and modern dots.

We support any of the above styles, but we recommend going with comfort over couture. If your Christmas Eve dinner is anything like ours, you'll want an elastic waist and reasonable heels to handle your post-meal food coma. Enjoy!
