Perhaps third time's the charm for Katy Perry

The 29-year-old beauty suffered a serious performance disaster while attending the 2013 NRJ Music Awards at the Palais des Festivals on Saturday, Dec. 14, in Cannes, France, but Perry, like a consummate professional, managed to make it through the embarrassing moment (with a smile on her face!) and finish her performance.

While it's unclear exactly what went down as the pop star began to perform her hit single "Roar," John Mayer's girlfriend can be seen seemingly singing the lyrics...although she's noticeably not in sync with the background track.

The discrepancy between Perry's apparent vocals and the accompanying track was so distracting that the host of the night interrupted the star, apologized to the crowd and asked Katy if she could begin her performance again.

Perry happily nodded to the audience before taking the stage for the second time, at which point her vocals became clearly audible while the hitmaker performed "Roar" like a pro.

Just one night after her onstage snafu, the singer performed at London's Wembley Arena for Sunday's finale of The X Factor U.K.

Perry sang her latest hit song "Unconditionally," dressed as a beautiful bedazzled bird, entering the stage in a giant golden cage along with her fellow flock of dancers.

But unfortunately, the "Fireworks" singer is also receiving backlash for her most recent show after many claimed Perry's vocals were not up to par.

Here's hoping her next performance goes down without a hitch.
