Niall Horan on Fateful NYC Encounter With Katy Perry: Who Doesn't Have a Crush on John Mayer's Love?

Niall Horan is the first to admit he's got a little bit of a crush on Katy Perry.

And on Wednesday, Dec. 3, the One Direction boy-bander appeared to have landed a date with his dream girl at NYC's Soho House—but that wasn't quite the case. 

On Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM radio show the next morning, the Irish cutie explained he was just in the right place at the right time! "I was in there and I think she was doing an interview or something and she was there and I was leaving and she left and we didn't have dinner or anything together," he said. "I just said, ‘Hello' to her."

It was just last month that the boy-bander, 20, fake proposed to Ms. Perry, 29, backstage at an event to Tokyo. He Instagrammed a selfie showing the brunette beauty cuddled up to his cheek, writing, "she said yes ! It's happening! Haha."

He also posted a shot all five 1D boys, captioning the precious pic, "Me and my groomsmen and my lovely wife hahahaha."

But sweet Niall is going to have to have to settle for being just a friend. A source tells E! News that Katy and John, 36, are "very serious," calling an engagement "inevitable."

Hey, they do make a cute couple. Plus, it's not like Niall is going to have any trouble with the ladies in his lifetime!
