When he directs a movie, let alone acts in one, Ben Affleck never stops learning his craft and Argo was no exception.

In an exclusive clip obtained by E! News from an interview he conducted for Argo: The Declassified Extended Edition, the Hollywood star dishes on the lessons he took away from making Warner Bros.' acclaimed political thriller.

Lesson No. 1, according to 41-year-old Affleck, is choosing the right folks to work with to help him execute his vision.

"There were so many lessons that I picked up from this movie. I learned again that lesson that I keep learning, which is to rely on really gifted people," said the actor, who praised cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, screenwriter Chris Terrio, editor William Goldenberg and fellow producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov.

Affleck added, "You have this whole menagerie of gifted partners. Just relying on them made the movie so much better."

Undoubtedly, it was a perfect storm of talent as Argo not only earned critical accolades—it won a Golden Globe for Best Director and Best Picture and an Oscar for Best Picture—but also stormed the box office, raking in $232 million worldwide.

Not bad for a historical drama chronicling the daring escape of a group of Americans from Iran during the Iranian Revolution under the cover of a movie production.

Argo's success also prompted Warner Bros. to offer Affleck the role of Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel.

Argo: The Declassified Extended Edition hits stores on Blu-Ray or Digital HD on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
