The late James Gandolfini was honored this weekend in his hometown of Park Ridge, N.J.

Friends, family members and even a few costars traveled to the small town where the Sopranos star spent much of his childhood growing up.

Sopranos director Timothy Van Patten and cast members Steve Schirripa, Vincent Curatola, Tony Sirico, Dominic Chianese, Vincent Pastore and John Ventimiglia were all on hand as a stretch of Park Avenue was renamed James Gandolfini Way.

Gandolfini's wife, Deborah Lin, son Michael, daughter Liliana and sister Leta also paid tribute to their beloved family member.

According to NorthJersey.com, several speakers noted the actor's generosity with philanthropic causes as well as his fondness of the neighborhood.

"He just told me every story about every place here," Michael told the publication. "[He] definitely made a point of coming here."

The city council also declared Sunday "James Gandolfini Day" in Park Ridge.

"He was a humble man. He was so kind to everyone," resident Mike Meidanis said. "You could never tell he was a big star."

Gandolfini will also be honored Monday night at the 23rd Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City.
