It's no secret that Kelly Clarkson's weight has been scrutinized for years. Now that she's pregnant, however, she's looking forward to finally catching a break from the criticism regarding her figure.

Speaking to Parade before her baby news was revealed, the newlywed said she was excited to embrace her pregnancy curves. "Everybody calls me fat all the time, so I can't wait to have a reason, instead of everybody just being a jerk!"

After she gives birth, don't expect the "People Like Us" singer to slim down in record time like other celebrities often do. "I've never been Gisele Bündchen," Clarkson said, "so ain't nobody expectin' that! I like to set a [low] standard so people don't expect a lot."

In this weekend's cover story, the 31-year-old American Idol winner also opens up about life before Brandon Blackstock. "I was single for almost seven years. Every Christmas, it was like, 'Seriously, I'm still pathetically alone? Awesome. I'm still telling people I'm okay with it? I'm not.'"

When she first began dating Blackstock in 2012, he was worried about what his father—Clarkson's manager—would think. "He was like, 'My dad's gonna kill me if this doesn't go well.' I said, 'So? We're both adults. And it's gonna go awesome!' In my head, I was like, 'I'm already married to you!'"

Clarkson married the divorced father of two in Tennessee on Oct. 20. "I bawled like a baby. We both wrote our own vows, and it was hard to get through them, but I did it," she recalls. "Brandon was like, 'The Notebook ain't got nothin' on me—come on!' And he took me out [on the lake] in a rowboat. It was very sweet. The whole thing was perfect."
