Oh what a difference a day makes… We were swooning over the photos of Jennifer Lawrence at the Rome The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premiere (left photo). She looked like she just stepped off a Hitchcock screen, with her sophisticated cropped coif and classic makeup.

Then we saw the photos from the Paris premiere and worried that the Catching Fire star had sent her evil twin as a decoy. With a white powdered face, harsh eye makeup and blood red lips, J.Law looked like she was trying out for a vampire role.

Get the Look:  Just because J.Law went Goth a day later doesn't mean we can't focus on the "princess perfect" look from Rome. Starting with the hair, if you're locks are cropped like Jennifer's, you are going to want to finger comb a dime-size of a lightweight styling crème like Bumble & Bumble Styling Crème through your hair.

Using a small-barreled brush and a blow dryer, dry hair while brushing hair back off your face.  Next, use a teasing comb to tease the crown of your hair, spraying with a volumizing hairspray like Not Your Mother's She's a Tease Volumizing Hairspray after each section. Then, brush the front of your hair back over the teased hair and spray your entire head with hairspray.

To get J.Law's kitten eye makeup… After prepping eyelids with concealer or primer, cover entire eye area with a flesh or cream-colored eye shadow. Use a small eye brush to apply a light matte brown eye shadow just to the eyelids.

Then, using a fine-tipped black liquid eyeliner pen like Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black, draw a thin line along upper lash line. Make the line thicker as you pass your eyeball and get closer to the outer corner. When you get to the outer corner, flick the pen upwards towards the outer corner of your eyebrow.

Next, use the eyeliner pen to draw a thin line along your lower lash line. When you get to the outer corner, connect the line with the upper lash line.  Complete the eye makeup by applying 2-3 coats of your favorite volume-building mascara.

To copy Ms. Lawrence's sexy yet subtle pout, start by exfoliating lips with a sugar scrub like Fresh Sugar Lip Polish to give your lips a clean canvas. Then, line and fill in lips with a coral lip liner like MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in Coral 18C. Using a lip brush apply a glossy, highly pigmented lipstick like Dior Addict Lipstick in Miami 635.

Beauty Bailout (for Princess of Darkness Look): See above. Kidding! Seriously… We get that J.Law was trying to be all edgy and chic for the big Parisian premiere, but she could have achieved this with a more flattering look.

Instead of wearing her hair in a pixie elf style (which we thought totally clashed with the makeup), we would have kept the side part and applied gel to her hair and combed it back (très chic!).

As for the makeup, we would have added more dimension to her smoky eye by using a charcoal grey eye shadow like Illamasqua Powder Eye Shadow in Incubus. We would have applied the shadow at the upper lash line and blended upwards to create a gradient effect.

We definitely would have applied a foundation that matched J.Law's complexion and skipped the harsh white powder.  She is also in desperate need of some blush!  We would have applied a gel peachy blush like Tarte Cheek Stain in Blissful by tapping it onto the apples of her cheeks and blending upwards.

We obviously wouldn't have touched that gorgeous blood-red lip. Once we toned down her eye makeup and gave her cheeks some life, the red would be able to stand on its own without making her look too True Blood.

Listen, we get that J.Law has tons of appearances over the next few weeks promoting Catching Fire and she's trying to change up her looks in every city. We just hope that for future appearances she goes more for the Dior / Hitchcock look rather than the "I'll suck your blood" evil twin look. We'll admit we're secretly hoping one of the looks this week will be more of a mod Twiggy. (She has to with that hair, right??)
