Jennifer Lawrence Walks Off the Red Carpet to Hug a Crying Fan at Catching Fire Premiere

Katniss Everdeen herself leaves the carpet for an adorable, unplanned moment with a young fan

There are plenty of reasons to talk about Jennifer Lawrence after yesterday's Hunger Games: Catching Fire world premiere in London: She has short hair and doesn't care! She looked kind of like Jennifer Lawrence playing Tilda Swinton in a Saturday Night Live skit! She said the darndest things!

But our favorite moment was one that probably would have flown under the radar.

Yahoo's livestream cameras caught Jennifer Lawrence leaving the red carpet—literally moving the barricade herself and walking off the carpet—to console a crying fan. Jennifer talked to the young girl, posed for a picture and gave her a hug and a kiss.

For a minute, amid the chaos of the premiere, there was an unscripted moment of Jennifer just being a good person. And making some little girl's day in the process. We got a little choked up.

The cynics among us may claim that this is the best, most calculated PR move any celebrity has pulled in a long while. Which would be horribly offensive and very un-Jennifer Lawrence-like (she has a history of being kind hearted, even when there is no camera around to capture it).

We see it as the opposite:

A genuine moment. One that doesn't happen too often around here.
