Alanis Morissette, Jagged Little Pill

Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill is about to get the Broadway treatment.

The 39-year-old rocker announced that a workshop production based on her seminal 1995 album will debut on the Great White Way in 2014.

Morissette's musical will feature every track from the record, which includes classic cuts such as "You Oughta Know," "Hand in My Pocket," "You Learn" and "Ironic," as well as other hits from her catalogue ("Thank U" and "Uninvited" come to mind) and original songs she's composed specifically for the stage.

"I look forward to taking the heart of Jagged Little Pill and expanding its story, fleshing it out into ever deeper layers of emotionality, specificity, humanity, power, physicality, spirit and fabulism," said the singer.

The tuner will be produced by Vivek J. Tiwary, who successfully adapted Green Day's American Idiot into a Broadway rock extravaganza, and Arvind Ethan David. Two-time Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt has signed on to supply the orchestrations and arrangements.

Morissette, who got her start in showbiz as an actress in the '80s on Nickelodeon's You Can't Do That on Television, is no stranger to the stage, having starred in The Vagina Monologues as well as the off-Broadway play The Exonerated and a one-night-only engagement of the experimental production An Oak Tree.

Of course, she's best known for Jagged Little Pill, which was produced by Glen Ballard, remained atop the Billboard charts for a whopping 12 weeks and sold more than 33 million copies worldwide on the strength of six massively popular singles. It also netted Alanis five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, and influenced scores of female artists.
