Actually, the 26-year-old singer-actress was a bona fide child beauty queen! In honor of throwback Thursday, the Duffster tweeted an epic glamour shot from her early modeling days, readily admitting, "there are so many things wrong with this."
Ha. Well, in the adorably done-up shot, young Hilary is all made up—Toddlers & Tiaras style!—wearing a gigantic, pink feather boa and large clip-on pearl earrings. Her blond hair is perfectly poufy and curled—and certainly appears to be her own, not a weave! She also flashes a sweet smile in the pic, showing what appear to be her actual baby teeth—not a flipper. Natural beauty!
She most definitely would've taken home Ultimate Grand Supreme in a non-glitz competition, but Hilary was never actually in the pageantry circuit!
In 2007, she spoke with Girlfriend, an Aussie mag, about her early beauty career, explaining, "It was like modeling for bad department stores, but I loved it!"
"Then when I saw my picture in the paper I was like, ‘Wow, that's me,'" she recalled. "[But] it wasn't a beauty pageant. We [she and sister Haylie Duff] never did that."
She also remembers wearing "these little Sunday school outfits" that she thought "were really cool at the time." Only when she and Hayley "found the photos like ten years later, we were like, 'Wow, those were hideous!'"
She must not have been talking about this pink feather boa, because it looks absolutely beautimous on her!
