We couldn't help but think, when looking at Taylor Swift on the red carpet tonight at the 47th Annual Country Music Association Awards, of...

Christmas!

That was some Yuletide-reminiscent, cranberry-and-poinsettia-colored red that the Red artist rocked as she headed into the ceremony at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.

Elie Saab classified the shade as "wine," but no matter—Taylor stunned in the sleeveless gown with a plunging back from the design house's Fall/Winter 2013 Haute Couture collection.

She wore her hair up and jewel earrings were all she needed to accent the dress, which came with its own accessories in the form of perfectly placed embroidery up the front of the bodice and full skirt.

And Taylor was excited about her look, too, tweeting a teaser photo of just a corner of it earlier today, the drape of the fabric almost looking like a blood-red rose.

Though the 23-year-old hitmaker would be ditching the dress for another, more performance-friendly look before taking the stage with Alison Krauss, Vince Gill and others during the show, she was dressed just as a guest of honor should be to kick things off.

Not only was Swift a six-time nominee tonight, her possible wins including Entertainer of the Year and Album of the Year, but she was also due to receive the Pinnacle Award for her astounding success in the country world and beyond.

A red-letter night for her indeed.
