Kristen Bell wasn't too lazy to marry Dax Shepard after all!
The longtime couple, who finally determined to tie the knot after gay marriage again became legal in California earlier this year, ended up swapping vows in a small—and possibly spontaneous—ceremony at the Beverly Hills City Clerk's Office, Us Weekly reports.
Bell, 33, and Shepard, 38, are parents to 6-month-old daughter Lincoln.
According to TMZ, which was first with the nuptial news, the couple showed up just to get their marriage license but ended up taking the plunge right then and there. (Bell also was reportedly tearing up, so perhaps an adorable sloth happened to be on hand.)
"I have to unfortunately report that we just haven't gotten it together on a Saturday to get to the courthouse," the House of Lies star said. "But we have every intention to. We have every intention to. We wanna sign those papers. And I think we just found out that you can do it online now. What if we got married online? Print it out: ‘You guys, married! Married, everybody!' It's just out of laziness that we haven't actually done it yet."
Well look who was hit with a jolt of energy! But their big day has been a long time coming.
After the U.S. Supreme Court declared the federal Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional and refused to hear the objections to legalizing same-sex marriage in California, Bell went ahead and repopped the question to her fiancé of several years via Twitter.
"@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove," she wrote.
While Bell also told E! News in August that she was totally down "to get gay-married" any time, she assured us that she and Shepard would not be having a big wedding.
"We're not having a wedding," the star of the upcoming Veronica Mars movie said. "It's not a desire of either of ours to have any sort of day of celebration for us. I feel like we get enough attention in our daily lives and we just want something sort of private that involves pen and paper."
And that's just what they did!
