Out with the old, in with the new!

Well, when Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Sarah Paulson are considered "the old," that saying doesn't really apply now, does it? Still, American Horror Story: Coven, which finally premieres tonight on FX, seamlessly weaves together the older generation with the milennial witches attending a boarding school in New Orleans ran by Paulson's character

We chatted with AHS: Coven's new generation of witches, including Emma Roberts, Taissa Farmiga and Gabourey Sidibe, as well as returning fan favorite Evan Peters, on the red carpet at the season premiere party, where they dished on just how "crazy" the ladies are this year and romance...

Watch: Evan Peters Returns to "AHS: Coven"

"The witches on this show be crazy, witches be crazy," Sidibe teases of Coven's bevy of witches. "It's interesting because you can't quite tell anyone's intention. It's not so cut and dry, like Glinda the Good Witch and Maleficent, that's a bad witch. You can't quite tell yet who's a good witch and who's a bad witch."

The young witches viewers will be meeting in the premiere? Sidibe's Queenie, a human voodoo doll; Robert's Madison, a famous actress with a mean girl streak and telekinetic abilities, Nan (Jamie Brewer, returning to AHS after sitting season two out), who is clairvoyant, and new-to-school Zoe (Farmiga), who can literally kill someone by having sex with them. Seriously.

Loyal AHS viewers were excited to see Farmiga, a major season one players who sat out season two, return to lead the new coven. "He called me in January and I was actually shooting a movie in Barcelona at the time," Farmiga says of Murphy asking her to come back. "I was just so excited. I was like, ‘Ryan wants to talk to me, why? What could he possibly want?' and then he told me about this character he was writing and that he wanted to write it for me, and I was like, ‘Yeah, let's do it!'"

And those fans who loved Farmiga's character Violet's relationship with Peters' character Tate in season one will definitely be pleased by what they see in Coven. "There's a little something going on between Evan and my character. We'll see where it goes," Farmiga previews of Zoe and Kyle, Peters' frat guy with a good heart.

Of course, Peters' real-life girlfriend Emma Roberts is one of Farmiga's fellow witches on the show, and the actor admits, "It's a little weird, but you try and be professional about the whole thing. It's fun. It's fun having her there."

Roberts adds, "It's a lot of fun. I'm a huge fan of the show and have been watching it since the first season so to get to be on it and to be playing a witch is pretty awesome!"

American Horror Story: Coven premieres tonight at 10 p.m. on FX.
