NBCBrooke Shields is spilling some shocking details about her 1997 divorce from tennis pro Andre Agassi.
During a stop on the Today show with famous family court attorney Laura Wassar, the actress shared something that her former husband told her as they were going through divorce court proceedings.
"I am divorced," she said. "And mine was fairly quick and relatively easy, but it's a very interesting thing because he did say to me, 'Be happy that we don't have children or I would not have made this easy for you.'"
She added, "And therein lies why I'm not there anymore."
And while the two may have called it quits over a decade ago—and just days shy of what would have been their second wedding anniversary—it seems that the Hollywood star still gets choked up today talking about the painful ordeal.
But either way, Shields has since moved on from the marriage and is happily married (with kids).
She wed writer-producer Chris Henchy in 2001 and the couple has two daughters, Rowan and Grier.
"He is rock solid and so incredibly aware," Shields has gushed of her current hubby.
"He just revels in me, but doesn't hold me on such a pedestal that I'm too far away from him."
