One thing's certain, Miley Cyrus definitely received Sinead O'Connor's unwarranted advice about the music industry Wednesday.

And it seems that Miley was less than pleased about the open letter that the Irish singer penned specifically for her.

But let's backtrack for a second.

Miley first brought up the 46-year-old songwriter when explaining that she wanted the music video to "Wrecking Ball" to be similar to the famous hit "Nothing Compares 2 U."

And after O'Connor got wind of that, she had a few sage words for the twerking songstress on her blog.

Twitter

"I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way ‘cool' to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos. It is in fact the case that you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped, whether its the music business or yourself doing the pimping," she wrote.

O'Connor went on (and on) and warned Miley about the risks of exploiting herself sexually and how to handle music industry execs who don't "give a s--t" about her.

Miley then decided to respond to the music veteran by blasting her on Twitter—as one does.

The "We Can't Stop" singer posted a pic of O'Connor's most recent tweets and captioned the pic, "Before Amanda Bynes…. There was…."

Hmmm…two wrongs, Miley. Two wrongs.

And she didn't stop there (pun intended).

Miley then followed up with another twitpic of O'Connor ripping up a picture of the Pope during a musical performance on Saturday Night Live years ago.

The shocking incident, at the time, was the talk of the town, eerily similar to Miley's twerk-tastic MTV VMA performance.

So why throw shade when the two could probably bond over their badass-ness? Perhaps we'll never know.

But maybe Miley's planning on paying homage to the singer during her appearance on this weekend's Saturday Night Live—that would certainly keep 'em talking.
