That honor goes to One Direction, who topped Billboard.com's 2013 edition of 21 Under 21, which ranks music's most powerful minors each year.
The boybanders, including Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, earned the coveted accolade based off their immense achievements in music over the past year. Their sophomore album "Up All Night" topped the charts in 35 countries and they became the only U.K. group in history to have their first two albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
In addition, in 2013, 1D placed six songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, more than any other group this year, and they've even found big-screen success with their 3-D concert flick This Is Us, which has grossed more than $62 million to date.
While the British hunks certainly aren't the only young stars working hard, they did steal the top honor from Justin Bieber, who fell down to the No. 2 spot this year due to the negative press that has been plaguing the star's personal life as of late.
Despite the singer being on the receiving end of rampant criticism, the Biebs has still had a solid year when it comes to his music. His Believe Acoustic album soared to the top of the Billboard 200 and even broke a record for Justin, who became the first artist in history to score five No. 1 albums before the age of 19.
Not to mention, he's also the most followed person on Twitter.
Next on the list is Miley Cyrus, who has been the talk of Tinseltown after her raunchy music video for her single "We Can't Stop," her scandalous performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in August and her latest video for her single "Wrecking Ball," which sees the singer swinging around completely naked atop a wrecking ball in the Terry Richardson-directed clip.
Despite her controversial new image, Miley's music continues to smash records—her song "Wrecking Ball" became the singer's first No. 1 single on the Hot 100 charts and the video broke Vevo's record for the most-viewed clip in 24 hours.
And she's made it clear she's not stopping any time soon, most recently posing nude on the cover of Rolling Stone as she gears up for the Oct. 8 release of her forthcoming album Bangerz.
Ariana Grande, who failed to make the list last year, came in at No. 4 thanks to the success of her hit single "The Way," which features Mac Miller.
And rapper Earl Sweatshirt landed the No. 5 spot, while Lorde, who broke out this year with her hit single "Royals," earned the No. 6 ranking.
As for No. 21?
That title goes to girl group Fifth Harmony, who, coincidentally, was formed with Simon Cowell's support on the U.K.'s X Factor, similar to how One Direction first got their start.
