There is nothing but love between Comedy Central competitors Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.

The Daily Show had won the Best Variety Show category for the last 10 Emmys in a row, the longest winning streak in TV history. But, for the first time, The Colbert Report beat it this year.

So of course, Colbert had to relish his Emmy drought with a bit of celebration.

During his show on Tuesday, Sept. 24, an image of Colbert accepting his award popped up on the screen during his headline sequence.

"What, wait a second, I just," Colbert said after receiving a loud applause from the audience. "Folks I gotta say.  I'm sorry, I mean, I don't know, how did that get in there?"

While hoisting both of his Emmys (he also took home the award for Best Writing in a Variety Series) he exclaimed "and more importantly, how did these get up here?"

But Colbert couldn't help but make a few jokes about his good friend and colleague's loss.

After quoting Mother Teresa and declaring that "it's not enough to win, other must lose," he admitted that the only thing left to do was give Stewart a call to wish him a sincere "bite me."

"Hello Stephen," Jon Stewart said as he entered on stage to a big cheer from the audience.

"I gotta go," Colbert exclaimed. "Jon! Jon Stewart!"

"Stephen Colbert, I couldn't be happier for you," Stewart said.

"No, no, no," Colbert said.  "No Jon, you are not."

After Colbert declared that Stewart's "historic streak has been snapped by me," Stewart had nothing but praise for Colbert.

"I love and respect you," Stewart said. "I have unbelievable admiration for everybody that works here. You guys are awesome, I just stopped by to congratulate you."

And with that, the two hosts shared a hug.

Will the streak continue for Colbert or will Stewart take back the title next year? Let the battle begin!
