After winning the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2013 Emmys, Veep's Julia Louis-Dreyfus took the stage with a little help from a familiar face: Costar Tony Hale, who had just won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series! On their HBO series, Hale plays Gary, the very attentive and supportive aide of Vice President Selina Meyer (Louise-Dreyfus), and the duo hilariously reenacted their dynamic on Veep while the former Seinfeld star gave her acceptance speech.
And costar Anna Chlumsky got in on the fun, too!
When Louis-Dreyfus stepped up to the mic, Hale unexpectedly appeared behind her, holding her bag silently. Of course, he was there to remind her to thank her family, and feeding her lines such as, "I love them so much."
Louis-Dreyfus also went on to thank the HBO satire's entire cast. Well, almost the entire cast as she forgot to mention fellow Emmy winner Hale, who didn't seem to mind, giving her a thumbs up after she wrapped her speech! She did thank Chlumsky, who appeared bored as she was texting throughout Louis-Dreyfus' speech.
Louis-Dreyfus' victory was her second straight Emmy win for her work on Veep. It was her fourth overall win and her 16th nomination. "It means a ton because I've actually lost many, many more times the I have won," Louis-Dreyfus said in the press room after her win "I've lost ten times as a matter of fact and so it is delicious to win."
