Jon Hamm Explains His Big Bushy Beard

Find out what the Mad Men star told us about his grizzly look

Jon Hamm is one very hot bearded man.

And he has a very simple reason for letting his facial hair grow over the last few days.

"I love not shaving," Hamm told me last night at Vanity Fair and Maybelline's Mad Men party at the Chateau Marmont hotel. "This ends up happening…I was in England and was working on a project and had been away for four months and I finally got home and I was like, I think I'm done with shaving for a little while.

"That was three days ago and then this happens," he said.

Will he shave it off in time for tomorrow's Emmys? "Probably not," he said.

And as of last night, his longtime actress-director girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt said she still didn't know what she was going to be wearing on the big day.

But, she's not too worried.

"It's fairly relaxed," Hamm said of their awards show prep. "We walk the dog, get something to eat and put on fancy clothes."

"We always do a little champagne toast," Westfeldt said.

Hamm added, "It's fun to have a little in you before you go out."
