Some things, like twerking and comic wordplay, should be left to the pros.

But when news of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's split broke, TV reporters immediately and awkwardly tried to make the obvious twerking and wrecking ball puns. Jimmy Kimmel couldn't help but mock the mockers—and show those talking heads how puns are done!

"It's the classic story of boy meets girl, girl gets naked and straddles a piece of construction equipment, boy loses girl," Jimmy quipped on Tuesday, Sept.17. "It's probably for the best. I mean, they're too young to settle down."

He joked that at Miley's age, 20, "you need to be out there, and you need to jump on as many wrecking balls as you can. At 20 years old, you have to grab life by the sledgehammer and weirdly lick it."

And while Jimmy poked some lighthearted fun at the former couple, he was really blown away by the slew of on-air personalities and reporters who lacked any "sensitivity" surrounding Miley and Liam's split.

He showed a montage of anchors and newspeople, all saturating the screens with cheesiness, saying, "things didn't twerk out" with the young couple and noting their engagement had been "torn apart by a wrecking ball."

These reporters seemed to be laughing at their jokes rather than focusing on delivering their punchlines.
