Angelina Jolie may have spent the last several days bowling and hitting up the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium with her kids, but it was back to business for the mother-of-six on Wednesday.

The Oscar winner was spotted touching down at Sydney Airport after spending most of the day scouting locations in Tamworth and the small town of Werris Creek for her next directorial effort, Unbroken.

But it wasn't all work and no play for the 38-year-old star.

In between stops at the various places where she may shoot her film, Jolie graciously took time out to interact with the locals and even posed for pics.

Unbroken tells the true story of former Olympian and real-life World War II hero Louis Zamperini who, as an Air Force pilot, crashed into the Pacific Ocean in 1943 and was subsequently taken captive by Japanese soldiers, who held him in a prison camp for the rest of the war.

Jack O'Connell, best known for his role on the British hit show Skins, will star as Zamperini.
