Today marks the 12th anniversary of the tragic events that took place on September 11, 2001.

President Barack Obama observed a moment of silence in honor of the lives lost during the terrorist attacks on the U.S. early Wednesday morning. He was joined by Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill on the South Lawn of the White House.

"Together we pause and pray," he later said at a ceremony held at the Pentagon. "We pray for the memory of all those taken from us. Our hearts still ache for the futures snatched away."

And much like the president and the rest of us, celebrities are sending their thoughts and prayers to those who have been affected by the horrific events.

Here is what some of Hollywood is saying via Twitter.
